Led by Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities Child Intervention Specialists, these hands-on workshops are designed to help parents facilitate play dates and positively discipline. Play group goals include teaching parents how to help their child to share, take turns and practice social skills. 

Please note that new classes are listed 30 days before the actual class date. You will only see the next month's class availability when the current month is over.

* RSVP required (choose from dates/times below). If this is your first class, please contact Laurie Demchak at lauriedemchak@connectingforkids.org for proper class placement. To enable many families to participate in this program we ask that you only attend one class per month. Due to the popularity of this class, registrations fill quickly. If you would like to be added to the wait list for a particular section, please contact us via email with the date, time and number of children participating/requiring sibling care.


This program is offered in conjunction with the Westlake Porter Public Library and generously supported by grants from The Cleveland Foundation and Nordson Corporation Foundation.

    This program is for parents/caregivers and children ages 3 to 6. Child care is available for siblings in a separate room with RSVP.

    Cost: Free

    Join us for a hands-on workshop designed to help parents/caregivers facilitate play and positively discipline. Led by Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities Child Intervention Specialists, we will run a playgroup and teach sharing, taking turns and other social skills. This class is designed to teach parents/caregivers; therefore, an adult must remain with the child during the session.

    Important Notes:

    • You MUST RSVP.
    • In order for many families to participate in this program we ask that you only attend one class per month.
    • If you have never attended this program before, you MUST speak with Laurie Demchak before registering so you can be placed in the proper group. Please email lauriedemchak@connectingforkids.org or call 1-440-250-5563 for assistance.
    • If the session you want is full (registration is closed), please email lauriedemchak@connectingforkids.org or call 1-440-250-5563 to be placed on a waitlist. Families on the waitlist are guaranteed admission to the next month's class.
    • If you have registered and suddenly cannot attend, please notify us as soon as possible so someone else may attend.
    • Parent/caregiver must stay in the room with their child during the entire session.
    • Please refrain from using cell phones during the session.
    • A snack will be provided during the session.  No outside food/beverages can be brought into the session.
