Discussion Group
In partnership with Westlake Porter Public Library, Connecting for Kids is offering a host of
programming for families with questions or concerns about their child's development.
Once a month on Fridays at 11:30am and on Saturday at 1pm we will hold Parent Discussion Groups led by child development experts. We will offer a facilitated playgroup at the same time in a separate room for the children.
NEW THIS YEAR- You must RSVP for a playgroup spot for your child. If you do not have a RSVP you may need to stay in the playgroup with your child and not attend the Parent Discussion Group.
Basic Format of Parent Discussion Group
1st 15 minutes: The parent and child enter the playroom, get settled and play in an unstructured setting.
Next hour: The children participate in structured activities led by child development experts. Parents leave the playroom and attend the Parent Discussion group.
Last 15 minutes: The parents return to the playroom, help clean up and leave.
The events are free and open to the public. Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch for you and/or your child. No peanuts please. Parents must be either in the playroom or the Parent Discussion Group. Parents are expected to do all toileting of children. The playgroup is open to any age of child. Parents do not need a formal diagnosis of their child to attend. All playgroups in Dover Room at Westlake Porter Public Library.
